This Privacy Policy explains what information feedmedata.ai (the "Site"), published under the Feed Me Data name (the "Publisher", "we", "us"), collects about you, how we use and share it, where it is stored, and the choices and rights you have.
In short
- Most of the Site works without an account. We store nothing about you until you sign in or write to us.
- No advertising, no third-party analytics, no cross-site tracking, and we never sell personal information.
- Essential cookies only: the sign-in session and a bot check on the sign-in page.
- Sign in with an email link, Google, or GitHub. We never see or store a password.
- Text you type into the AI features (Decoder and Prompt Notebook) is sent to AI model providers to generate a response.
- You can export or delete your account and its data at any time by asking us.
1) Information we collect
Account information. If you sign in, we receive and store:
- Email link: your email address.
- Google or GitHub sign-in: the email address and basic public profile (name, username, and profile picture) that the provider shares with your consent. We use it only to create and sign you into your account, and we never see your provider password.
- an account identifier, the dates your account was created and last signed in, and your role (member or site administrator).
Activity you save. When you are signed in, we store the activity that powers signed-in features:
- reactions to articles (likes, bookmarks, loves), which also build your reading queue;
- My List, followed channels, and how far you have watched each video;
- Listen Later, podcast subscriptions, and how far you have played each episode;
- saved jobs;
- your feed settings: selected and hidden sources, preferred homepage view, and broadcast interval.
AI features. Two features send what you type to AI model providers (see Section 5):
- Decoder: the term you look up. Lookups are logged and counted against a monthly quota, and generated definitions may be cached and shown to other visitors as glossary entries.
- Prompt Notebook (an experimental feature): your prompts, the models you choose, and the responses, which are saved to your account so you can revisit and download them. If you attach documents, their text is read into memory for that request, sent to the models you selected, and then discarded; we keep only the file names.
Support requests. If you use the support form or email us, we keep the topic, your message, the name and reply-to address you provide, any rating you give, your account identifier if you are signed in, and the IP address the request came from (used to limit abuse).
Technical data. Our servers and our infrastructure providers keep standard logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested pages, timestamps, and error details) for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. We look at traffic only in aggregate, without cookies or user profiles. We also count how many Decoder lookups and Prompt Notebook runs each account makes in a month so that fair-use quotas can be enforced, and we record AI model token usage and cost per provider without tying it to an account.
2) What we do not collect
- We never store passwords; sign-in uses one-time email links or codes, Google, or GitHub.
- We do not collect payment information; the Site is free.
- We do not run advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
- We do not collect precise location, contacts, or device identifiers.
- We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
3) Cookies and local storage
The Site sets essential cookies only: the session cookies our authentication provider (Supabase) uses to keep you signed in. The sign-in page also loads Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check that may use its own cookie and browser signals to tell people from bots. Because we set no optional cookies, the Site has no cookie banner.
Your browser's local storage holds interface preferences such as your theme, view modes, and playback settings. Those values stay on your device and are not used to track you.
Embedded players and thumbnails load from third parties, which may set their own cookies; see Section 6. The Site does not respond to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals because it does no tracking or selling for them to opt out of.
4) How we use information, and our legal bases
We use the information above to:
- provide, save, and sync the features you use (performance of our agreement with you);
- generate the AI responses you ask for and enforce fair-use quotas (our agreement with you, and our legitimate interest in running the Site sustainably);
- keep the Site secure and prevent abuse (our legitimate interests);
- answer your messages (our legitimate interests, and our agreement with you where you ask us to act on your account);
- send the emails you request, such as sign-in links; we do not send marketing email;
- understand usage in aggregate and improve the Site (our legitimate interests);
- comply with law and enforce our Terms.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the parentheticals above are the legal bases we rely on. We do not use your personal information to train AI models.
5) Service providers and other sharing
We share information only with the providers that run the Site, each acting on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service:
- Supabase: authentication and sign-in sessions.
- Hetzner: the servers that run the Site and hold its database.
- Cloudflare: DNS, content delivery, attack protection, the Turnstile bot check, and encrypted off-site database backups (kept for 15 days).
- HostGator: email delivery for sign-in links and the support mailbox.
- Google and GitHub: only if you choose to sign in with them, under Google's Privacy Policy or GitHub's Privacy Statement.
- AI model providers (currently Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic; we may add or change providers and keep this list current): receive the text you submit to the Decoder and Prompt Notebook, and the third-party content we screen and summarize, in order to generate responses. Third-party content only, never what you submit, may also be processed by Perplexity and OpenRouter (routing to DeepSeek and other open models) when those services are enabled. Before generating a response, the Decoder and the Prompt Notebook run what you submit (including a short sample of any attached document) through OpenAI's content-moderation service, whichever models you have selected. These providers process the text under their API terms; we do not send them your account details.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of the Site and its users, or as part of a transfer of the Site to a new operator, who would be bound by this Policy.
6) Third-party content and embedded players
Feed Me Data aggregates and links to third-party articles, videos, podcasts, jobs, events, and datasets. When you follow a link, the destination site's own privacy policy applies. Some content loads from third parties while you are on the Site, and those parties can see your IP address and may set their own cookies:
- YouTube: video thumbnails and the embedded player. The Site uses YouTube API Services; Google describes its handling of that data in Google's Privacy Policy.
- Podcast publishers: audio streams directly from each publisher's servers.
- OpenStreetMap: map tiles on some DataViz pages.
7) Where your information is stored
The Site's database runs on a server in the European Union, with encrypted backups held by Cloudflare. Our authentication, email, sign-in, and AI model providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where information leaves the region you live in, we rely on the transfer safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
8) Retention and deletion
- Account and saved activity: kept while your account exists, and deleted when you ask us to delete the account.
- Prompt Notebook and Decoder history: kept with your account; attached documents are not retained; cached glossary definitions are not tied to your account.
- Support requests: kept for up to 24 months after the request is closed, so we can follow up and spot repeat problems.
- Server logs: kept for a limited period unless needed to investigate abuse.
- Backups: age out within 15 days of a deletion.
9) Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We offer these choices to everyone:
- Access or export: ask and we will send you a copy of the data attached to your account.
- Correction: your email and profile come from your sign-in provider; change them there.
- Deletion: ask and we will delete your account and its saved activity.
- Opting out: you can use the Site without an account, and you can stop using the AI features at any time.
To exercise any of these, use the support form (choose "Privacy & data requests") or email [email protected] from the address on your account so we can verify it is you. We answer within 30 days, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
10) Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted backups, access controls, rate limiting, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.
11) Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and accounts are not available to anyone under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will say so on this page before it takes effect.
