Track competitor changes automatically: Build your own monitoring tool - Bolt.new Workshop

Have you ever done a competitor analysis? An afternoon of open tabs, pricing pages, and feature comparisons, distilled into a doc you felt good about at the time. Then it aged. One competitor shipped a feature, another changed their pricing, a third rewrote their whole positioning, and none of it made it into your file. The research wasn't wrong, it just stopped being true, and the only fix on offer is doing the entire afternoon again. In this hands-on Bolt.new Premium Customer Workshop, we'll build a living version instead. A competitor analysis dashboard that scrapes your competitors' page information using Firecrawl. You add the URLs you wish to pull information from, then we'll set up a recurring task so that the information which populates your dashboard stays up to date and tells you exactly what changed since you last looked. You do the thinking once, then come back whenever you need it. *Presentation URL:* https://workshop-9-24-2026.bolt.host *Timestamps:* 00:00 Introduction and Welcome 07:36 Web Scraping Basics and Legality 12:48 Meet Firecrawl 16:00 Coworking Space Project Overview 25:05 Building the Basic Scraper 42:54 Building the Pricing Scraper 49:08 Automated Monitoring and Webhooks 01:15:39 Testing Live Updates and Q&A *What we're building:* A Competitor Tracking Dashboard. You'll add the competitors you're tracking, choose the pages you want to keep an eye on, and let the app pull real content from their pricing pages, changelogs, and feature pages using the Firecrawl API. We'll also build a "what changed" view that compares the latest scrape against the previous one. That's the part that turns a one-off research exercise into something still useful in three months. *Outcomes:* By the end of this workshop, you'll understand: - How to decide which competitor pages are worth tracking, and what information to pull from each one - How to connect the Firecrawl API to a Bolt app to pull clean, structured content from any public page - Design a database that stores each piece of extracted content alongside its source and the date it was captured - How to set up a recurring task so your dashboard refreshes itself instead of going stale - Surfaces what changed, not just what is - Where scraping is appropriate, and how to respect robots.txt, rate limits, and terms of service *Skills:* Firecrawl and web scraping, API integration, competitive research, database schema design, structured JSON output, recurring tasks, change detection, dashboard design, prompt design. Difficulty: Intermediate Whether you're positioning a brand new product or keeping an existing competitive picture current, you'll leave with a dashboard that maintains itself. No more afternoons of open tabs, and no more wondering whether what you know is still true. These workshops are designed to be stand-alone, so there is no need to attend prior sessions to get value from this one.
