Ann: NHS-Galleri Trial Participant

Ann attended her first appointment for the NHS-Galleri trial in January 2022, while enjoying retirement after a career as a property manager and receptionist. The NHS-Galleri trial is a research study in England that is evaluating whether annual screening with the Galleri multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood test can help the NHS to detect cancer early when used alongside existing cancer screening programs. The Galleri test does not detect a signal for all cancers and not all cancers can be detected in the blood. False positive and false negative results do occur. Galleri is a screening test and does not diagnose cancer. Diagnostic testing is needed to confirm cancer. Based on a clinical study of people ages 50 to 79, around 1% are expected to receive a Cancer Signal Detected result, which includes a predicted Cancer Signal Origin. After diagnostic evaluation, around 62% of these people are expected to have a confirmed cancer diagnosis.
