OpenMobile-2 Is a CRAZY Open-Source Phone AI - I Tested It on a Fake Phone

OpenMobile-2 is an open-source mobile agent: it looks at phone screenshots and taps, swipes and types to finish tasks. I ran the 9B model on a simulated phone and compared GUI-only vs hybrid (taps + app tools) mode. In this video: what OpenMobile-2 and MobileGym++ are, how it was trained, the authors' own benchmark numbers (including where closed models still lead), how I set up the test (phone on my laptop, model on a rented GPU), and my real results. MY TEST (9B model, 6 tasks, one run each - small sample, not a reproduction of the paper): - GUI-only: 0/6 passed, 199 total steps - Hybrid: 2/6 passed, 82 total steps - Same task, GUI-only 60 steps (fail) vs hybrid 6 steps (pass) - Setup: MobileGym++ phone on my laptop (Node, port 3000), OpenMobile-2-9B BF16 served with vLLM 0.32.0 on a RunPod A40 48GB at $0.59/hr for roughly 25 minutes (about $0.25), pod deleted afterwards.
