DCSG1 - WAF for Satellites: Automated Security Checks for CCSDS Traffic - Shinichi Kan, Daehee Jang

As satellite systems increasingly converge on common communication standards, the attack surface starts to look reusable — and small gaps between "the spec" and real deployments can become real-world exploit paths. We'll walk through a realistic attacker's view of CCSDS-based links using a short scenario, then show how we're turning those scenarios into automated, WAF-style security checks for satellite protocol traffic. The goal is a repeatable way to detect and flag risky patterns early (before they become mission impact). We'll include a short demo/video to illustrate the workflow and share practical takeaways the audience can apply when assessing space protocol security.
