BigID's API-First Architecture and MCP
BigID was built API-first: every feature and function in the platform has a documented API behind it, bound by the same granular role-based access controls and audit logging as the UI. Every action a user or system takes is registered for compliance auditing, whether it came through a screen or an endpoint. That design is what makes Model Context Protocol support straightforward rather than bolted on. This video walks through how it works. What's covered: • The API layer underneath every BigID function, and the security controls that govern it • Cloud MCP, included for all customers as part of licensing, plus a local, fully supported MCP service for regulated industries and sovereign AI use cases • Documentation, configuration instructions, and sample prompts for the MCP server • Connectivity to Claude, Copilot, and Cursor, with more integrations on the way • Extensibility for partners and customers building their own tools against data in BigID • AgentIQ, the built-in assistant for running preset or custom queries directly in the platform • An agentic security risk assessment run through MCP, and how the output can be shaped for a security analyst, a data steward, or a business owner • Sharing, commenting on, and publishing the resulting dashboards to internal systems for ongoing monitoring Documentation for the BigID Cloud MCP server: https://docs.bigid.com/docs/bigid-cloud-mcp-server #BigID #MCP #ModelContextProtocol #DataSecurity #DSPM #AgenticAI #AISecurity #DataGovernance
