AWS Security LIVE: Fastly’s approach to DDoS protection
Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks continue to increase in size, sophistication, and frequency. DDoS is not only a threat to availability, but poses a risk to performance, latency, and even cloud spend. In this session with AWS, we'll dive deep into web application DDoS trends from Fastly’s global customer base. Liam Mayron, Ph.D., CISSP, Principal Product Manager and David King, Senior Security Product Marketing Manager at Fastly, will share insights derived from telemetry on Fastly’s 462 Terabits per second global edge network servicing 1.8 trillion requests per day and offer actionable guidance organizations can consider as they operationalize their defense against DDoS attacks. This session includes a discussion of the overall threat landscape and Web application security approaches that can help, including Web Application Firewalls, Bot Management, and dedicated DDoS solutions. We'll also share some of Fastly's own security research on how DDos attacks have evolved, based on Fastly's global Internet visibility. Finally, we can discuss what security practitioners should consider when evaluating an application DDoS mitigation solution.
