End-to-End Testing for Spring Boot apps with Playwright in VS Code
In this video, you’ll connect Playwright MCP to GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio Code and use Copilot to test a Spring Boot application through a real browser. You’ll run the existing Java tests, start the application, enable Playwright’s browser tools, and have Copilot verify the complete add, complete, and delete workflow. ➡️ Sample repository: https://github.com/microsoft/github-copilot-java-mcp-demo 🔨 Install before you start: Microsoft Build of OpenJDK: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/java/openjdk/download Extension Pack for Java: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=vscjava.vscode-java-pack Spring Boot Extension Pack: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=vmware.vscode-boot-dev-pack GitHub Copilot for Visual Studio Code: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=GitHub.copilot Playwright MCP for Visual Studio Code: https://playwright.dev/mcp/clients/vscode 🔎 Chapters: 0:00 Introduction 0:34 Install Playwright MCP 1:27 Prepare and run the Spring Boot app 2:14 Test the app with Copilot and Playwright 3:27 Review the browser test results 🎙️ Featuring: Rory Preddy (@rorypreddy) 📲 Follow VS Code: X: https://x.com/code Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/vscode.dev LinkedIn: https://aka.ms/VSCode/LinkedIn GitHub: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode #vscode #visualstudiocode #java #springboot
