SQL Server Performance Office Hours Episode 83 Special Guest Host
In this video, I, Erik Darling from Darling Data, dive into some intriguing SQL Server questions with a special guest co-host, my wife. We tackle a variety of topics, including why temp DB usage can skyrocket even without heavy use of temp tables, the safe usage of NOLOCK hints, the unexpected benefits of adding an ORDER BY clause, when query rewriting trumps indexing, and why SQL Server might ignore a seemingly perfect index. It's a lively discussion filled with practical insights and real-world examples, making it a must-watch for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of SQL Server performance. Whether you're a seasoned DBA or just starting out, there's plenty to learn from our conversation, especially if you're planning your next trip to the Azores!
