Hermes Agent Setup: I Self-Hosted 4 Apps on a $10 VPS
Hermes Agent setup on a $10 VPS: I self-hosted n8n, Cap and a custom PDF editor, and the AI agent did the install. Hermes Agent setup doesn't have to mean hours in a terminal. In this video I install Hermes Agent on a DreamHost Stack 8 VPS from the app library, connect it to OpenRouter, and then just ask it to deploy my apps. It installs n8n with Docker (self host n8n on your own server, with no per-workflow pricing), deploys Cap, an open-source Loom alternative for screen recording, and even builds a custom PDF editor called PDF Forge from a product requirements document. Four tools I'd normally pay for every month, an AI assistant, an automation platform, a screen recorder and a PDF editor, now run on one server for about ten dollars a month. At the end the DreamHost monitor shows 26% CPU and 40% RAM in use, so there's room for more apps, and the OpenRouter key shows about 27 cents spent on the whole setup. I also cover the honest trade-off: on a self-managed VPS, DreamHost keeps the hardware and network running, and everything above that is yours to look after. You don't need to be technical to follow along. I turned the whole build into a free step-by-step kit with every prompt I gave the agent, in order.
