Gemini 4 Carbon: The New Frontier
Google just announced Gemini 4 Carbon, its second frontier model in about two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon. According to Artificial Analysis, Carbon is now #1 on their Intelligence Index at 59, one point ahead of Claude Opus 5.5. Google says Carbon leads across the whole cyber defense workflow: finding vulnerabilities (SEC-bench Pro 88.2%), proving they can be exploited (ExploitGym 54.8%) and writing the patch (CWE-bench 71.0%). Google also says successful cheating on Terminal-Bench 4.0 dropped to 0%. On Arena's Agent leaderboard, Carbon ranks #2 behind Claude Opus 5.5 at 72% lower cost per task, based on Arena's testing. Carbon isn't publicly available yet. It's going to cyber defenders first through Google's Fairwind program, at the same introductory price as Argon: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Fun fact: put carbon under enough pressure and you get a diamond.
