Flyte Contributor's meetup - 06/20/2024
Meeting notes: 01:28 Project isolation RFC update Eduardo and Robert had a meeting last week to address the security concerns with the RFC. They found a path forward to apply the middleware to all Flight admin endpoints, with Eduardo contributing a compile-time solution to unblock the RFC. The RFC can now move to the final review period. 5:51 Community Pulse David reviewed a list of open PRs and issues that need further discussion and review, including: - A PR from LinkedIn to update execution cluster labels in Python - A PR to fix a regression with dropping the envFrom from pod templates - A PR to improve the flyte-core Helm chart - A new PR to add support for positional arguments - An issue with the task config override being broken - An issue with supporting defining the correct task in classes - An issue with querying large workflows - An issue with union types failing for data classes 26:03 Technical Steering Committee Changes David announced that Bernhard had to step down from the Technical Steering Committee due to a job change. He thanked Bernhard for his contributions and welcomed Rafael Raposo to the TSC. 28:15 Packaging and Module Not Found Errors The group discussed issues with module not found errors when running Flyte workflows, and whether Flyte should automatically package and include all source files by default, or provide a better error message and additional flags to handle this. The group agreed that an additional flag, potentially named something other than "copy", along with improved error messages, would be a good solution. Next Meeting The group decided to skip the next scheduled meeting on July 4th, as it would likely be unfeasible for many US-based participants, and instead provide updates asynchronously.
