Set Up Data Contracts and Metric Monitors with the Soda MCP
Getting a new database under data quality coverage usually means writing a lot of checks by hand. In this demo I use the new Soda MCP with Claude to do it end to end, without leaving the terminal. In Soda, checks live inside a contract: a set of promises a table makes to whoever uses it. This id is unique, this column is never empty, this data is fresh. If a promise breaks, the check fails. Contracts are just files, and AI is good at working with files. What you'll see: - Connect a new database to Soda Cloud through Claude and the Soda MCP - Let Soda AI write a data quality contract for every table, then run the checks - Improve a contract with Soda AI directly inside Soda Cloud - Take the same contract back into Claude Code and push it further with custom checks - Turn on metric monitors to catch the anomalies explicit checks would miss The result: a datasource that goes from zero data quality coverage to full contracts and monitors, in just a few prompts.
