Half the carbon footprint of a bottle of wine is in the packaging. So why not change the packaging? Meet John Paul Grogan, product director at Frugalpac, and their FBAM2 machine in Ipswich, UK. They design environmentally friendly packaging from recycled paperboard and monomaterial barriers. The challenge? Commercializing the technology to get sustainable packaging into the marketplace at scale. With a stable #Automation platform, the FBAM2 now produces 14 million bottles per year. The impact: 33 billion glass bottles are produced annually, generating 18.5 million tons of carbon—equivalent to Panama's total output. The Frugal bottle has up to six times lower carbon footprint than glass. And it's recyclable: plastic with plastic, paper with paper. Want to reduce the carbon of wine and spirits? Change the packaging. Learn more: https://sie.ag/5A26j6
