LibreOffice Conference 2026: Seamless Collaboration: Versioning Flat ODF Documents with Git

LibreOffice - The Document Foundation

Traditional usage of office documents stores them as binary archives hindering effective version control. This session showcases our workflow using Flat ODF and Git to enable granular, text-based versioning and seamless merging for office files. Unlike standard LibreOffice collaboration where internal change tracking can be altered, our approach leverages Git’s immutable history to ensure non-repudiable attribution for every modification. Presenters: Marco Marinello, Gabriele Ponzo For more information, please see: https://events.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice-conference-2026/talk/CN78T3/ LibreOffice is a free, private and open source office suite. It has no forced or built-in AI, and is backed by a non-profit foundation.
