6G ISAC Implementation with MATLAB and USRP
Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is a key 6G concept that uses a single waveform for both data transmission and radar sensing. Use MATLAB®, Simulink®, and Wireless Testbench™ to implement a target emulator on an NI™ USRP™ FPGA. By applying configurable delay, Doppler shift, and gain, the emulator generates realistic radar reflections that represent moving targets in a repeatable hardware-in-the-loop environment. Using a candidate 6G OFDM waveform with 100 MHz bandwidth, channel estimation based on demodulation reference signals (DMRS) enables the extraction of target range and velocity, which are visualized in real time on a range-Doppler map. This workflow demonstrates how USRP-based target emulation can accelerate the development and validation of next-generation sensing and communication algorithms.
