Run your Python code in an isolate instead of a Container

Python can run globally on Cloudflare Workers—and it can do a lot more than Hello World. In this PyCon US recap, I show how Pyodide brings Python to Workers, deploy a FastAPI server, and break down two demos: an AI-powered MSPaintify selfie app and a real-time multiplayer carnival game. Along the way, you'll see how Cloudflare Workflows provides durable execution and automatic retries; how R2, KV, and AI Gateway work through bindings; and how Durable Objects and WebSockets make stateful multiplayer apps scale horizontally. **Resources** - Python Workers: https://developers.cloudflare.com/workers/languages/python/ - Workflows: https://developers.cloudflare.com/workflows/ - Durable Objects: https://developers.cloudflare.com/durable-objects/ - AI Gateway: https://developers.cloudflare.com/ai-gateway/ - R2: https://developers.cloudflare.com/r2/ - Workers KV: https://developers.cloudflare.com/kv/ - Pyodide: https://pyodide.org - PEP-783: https://peps.python.org/pep-0783/ **Repos** - Hello World: https://github.com/craigsdennis/hello-world-python-workers-fastapi - MSPaintify: https://github.com/craigsdennis/mspaintify-python-workers - Carnival Game: https://github.com/craigsdennis/balloon-water-race-python-do Create an account on Cloudflare today for free: https://dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up **Chapters** 0:00 Python Workers at PyCon 0:40 Serverless on region: earth 1:09 Pyodide brings Python to Workers 1:35 FastAPI and platform primitives 1:59 The MSPaintify AI demo 2:28 Workflows, R2, AI Gateway, and KV 3:38 Building a game with Durable Objects 4:29 Camera, color detection, and haptics 4:49 Real-time multiplayer over WebSockets 5:45 Scaling one game per Durable Object 6:15 PEP 783 and packages from PyPI 6:30 What will you build with Python?
