He Had Never Heard Her Voice, Until She Read Her Wedding Vows
Eliane and Alberto met in São Paulo in 2024 and found their own way to communicate, connect, and ultimately fall in love. Eliane has lived with a condition affecting her ability to speak since childhood. Alberto lost his sight at 46, before the two met. Until now, he had never heard a voice that felt authentically Eliane’s. Using ElevenLabs technology, Eliane created a voice that carries the likeness of her family. This documentary follows their love story and the moment she uses that voice to read her wedding vows to Alberto ahead of their marriage later this year. For Eliane, having a voice of her own is about far more than being understood. It allows her to communicate with greater independence and express her identity to the person she loves. This is the first Brazilian story from the ElevenLabs Impact Program and 1 Million Voices initiative, which provides free voice-restoration technology to people living with permanent voice loss. As the initiative expands in Brazil, ElevenLabs is partnering with Associação Brasileira de Esclerose Lateral Amiotrófica (ABrELA) and Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia (SBFa) to help more people access voices that feel like their own.
