For Data Drill #15: "Readmission Radar", we're testing our experts' ability to calculate a real-world clinical performance metric from raw patient discharge records. The dataset contains 623 inpatient stay records from a small hospital. Each record represents a patient discharge and includes the patient ID, admission date, and discharge date. The task is to calculate the hospital's 30-day readmission rate. That means identifying every case where the same patient returned for a new admission within 30 days of a prior discharge, then computing the rate across all eligible records. NOTE: A discharge counts as a 30-day readmission when the same patient is admitted again within 30 days of their discharge date. Day 30 is included in the readmission window. All records in the dataset are assumed to have had a full 30-day follow-up window. Each expert will be on the clock as they solve the drill, and the best solution takes the crown.
