During the race, the athletes paraglided, hiked, and climbed over 1,200 km across the Alps through five different countries. Due to the rugged and remote nature of the racecourse, traditional broadcast crews were not able to cover the race for spectators, which is why zooom productions and Red Bull X-Alps turned to Esri’s 3D mapping technology. The 3D Live Tracking application, powered by ArcGIS JavaScript SDK [https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/develop-with-arcgis/features/web-development], brought the race route to life in rich detail and included the option to toggle on the perspective of the athletes themselves, creating an immersive point-of-view experience. The app allowed fans from around the world the ability to seamlessly track the athletes along the race route and cheer them on to the finish.
