SP80, vers un nouveau record de vitesse à la voile #StudentProjects

SP80 is a team of EPFL students and Alumni who believe that through the combination of sailing, kitesurfing and engineering principles, they can significantly outperform this standing World Sailing Speed Record. They are imagining unique solutions and novel concepts that have potential in the sailing world. By establishing a new record, they will demonstrate the application of a new set of tools in fast marine transport, offshore sailing and energy production. The SP80 team is now building a boat capable of reaching 150 km/h (80 knots) with the wind as its sole source of power. SP80 est une équipe d’étudiant·e·s et d’alumni EPFL convaincus que le record du monde de vitesse à la voile peut être surpassé en combinant voile, kitesurf et principes d’ingénierie. Dans cette entreprise, ils et elles imaginent des solutions uniques et des concepts nouveaux qui ont un potentiel dans le monde de la voile. En établissant un nouveau record, SP80 fera la démonstration d'un nouvel ensemble d’outils ayant des applications dans le transport maritime rapide, la navigation en haute mer ou la production d’énergie. C’est avec cette vision que l’équipe SP80 construit actuellement un bateau capable d’atteindre 150 km/h (80 nœuds) avec le vent comme seule source d’énergie.
