Dr. Conor Lynch: JupyterHub - An ecosystem of web applications
JupyterHub - An ecosystem of web applications Dr. Conor Lynch JupyterHub can be far more than an interactive coding environment limited to users with programming skills. In this talk, the Data Architecture Unit within An Garda Síochána will outline how they leveraged JupyterHub to develop no-code, air-gapped applications used by analysts to support live investigations. As a result, advanced analytics have been made accessible to over 100 staff members without a background in data science. We will demonstrate how combining technologies like Dash, FastAPI, and distributed storage (HBase/HDFS) within a 3-tier architecture provides a scalable, secure, and auditable ecosystem of applications that deliver real business impact in a highly sensitive domain. While we are limited in the detail we can share due to operational constraints, this talk will offer practical insights into architectural patterns, security considerations, and user-focused design strategies—showing how Python-based platforms can be extended to serve broader organisational needs, including non-technical users.
