SQLite: The Database on Every Phone!

SQLite Runs The Database Inside Almost Every App On Your Phone! WhatsApp, Chrome, Spotify, and Slack all store data locally, but none of them run MySQL or Postgres. Those are built for servers taking thousands of users at once, too heavy to live inside an app. Every app embeds SQLite instead, a database written in C that stays under 1MB and compiles straight into the app, so a query becomes a plain function call rather than a trip to a separate server. SQLite keeps everything in one file split into 4KB pages, and the first page holds the map of which tables and indexes exist and where they sit. The trade-offs: only one write can hit a file at a time, and with no network layer or permissions, anything that can open the file reads all of it. #SQLite #Database #SystemDesign #SoftwareEngineering #DevOps #Backend #CodingBasics #Databases #TechExplained #Programming
