We Got Open Source God’s Eye Before GTA 6
You asked, so it’s happening. God’s Eye View (formerly known as WorldView) is now open source. Get the code for V1 → https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view Live open source spatial intelligence on a photorealistic 3D globe. Half the magic is that it feels like a forbidden cockpit -- then you realize the sources are public and the code is inspectable. It started as a slightly ridiculous question: how much of the planet can you make sense of from public data and a browser tab? Once aircraft, vessels, satellites, active fires, earthquakes, traffic, public cameras and physical infrastructure live on the same photorealistic 3D globe, it stops feeling like a pile of dashboards. It feels like a command center. In this video I walk through the whole thing: ask the planet what’s happening over a cluster of military flights; jump into cockpit mode; voice-fly to points of interest, draw real boundaries and routes; move from city traffic into street cameras; inspect the physical internet; tune into radio around the world; and replay a recent Falcon 9 launch. V1 is the live open playground. It’s a fast, hackable foundation for exploration and learning -- not a complete or authoritative picture of the world. Break it, extend it, add the layers you want, and show me what you cook! WHAT’S INSIDE: • Photorealistic 3D globe: Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles + CesiumJS • Live and near-live aircraft: OpenSky + adsb.lol, including a separate military layer • Cockpit mode: flight paths, nearby context, AR labels and visual presets • Live vessels: AISStream • Propagated satellite orbits: CelesTrak TLEs • Active fires: NASA FIRMS • Earthquakes: USGS • Traffic and public cameras: OSM road geometry, optional TomTom congestion, and supported city camera sources • Physical infrastructure: submarine cables, data centers and dams • Internet radio: Radio Browser + individual broadcasters • Recent space missions: Launch Library 2 metadata • Voice navigation, layer control, annotations, measurement and spatial queries: OpenAI Realtime API PROJECT LINKS: Code and setup: https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view Data sources, terms and attribution: https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view/blob/main/DATA_SOURCES.md Contributing guide: https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md Issues and feature requests: https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view/issues The original God’s Eye View build: https://youtu.be/0p8o7AeHDzg God’s Eye View reveals the Strait of Hormuz: https://youtu.be/ccZzOGnT4Cg I vibe-coded Palantir in a weekend: https://youtu.be/rXvU7bPJ8n4 Mapping the World playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6qSg2I-7_koCMygFwN3sjtkH-X2wABCe CHAPTERS: 0:00 God's Eye View Open Sourced 0:40 The Live Planet, in One Browser Tab 1:10 Ask the Planet What’s Happening 2:24 Jump Into a Live Aircraft Cockpit 2:44 Command the Planet With Your Voice 4:29 Traffic, Cameras and Measuring the World 5:15 Find and Follow a Live Helicopter 6:00 Boneyards and the Physical Internet 6:50 Dams, Fire Data, Ukraine and the ISS 7:36 Radio Around the World and the Himalayas 8:39 Replay a Falcon 9 Launch 9:09 The Code Is Yours -- Subscribe for more in-depth AI & creative tech videos! 👉 @bilawalsidhu Join My Newsletter: https://spatialintelligence.ai Connect with me on X/Twitter here: https://x.com/bilawalsidhu Everywhere else here: https://bilawal.ai Business inquiries: [email protected] Bio: Bilawal Sidhu is a creator, engineer, and product builder obsessed with blending reality and imagination using art and science.
