A voice lost to MND is now educating visitors at Windsor Castle

For nearly 20 years, Irene Perrin has welcomed and educated visitors at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. A lifelong educator and former headteacher, Irene spent 31 years teaching before being diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease. One of the first symptoms was the loss of her speech. Working with speech and language therapist Dr. Richard Cave, Irene recreated her voice using ElevenLabs technology, drawing on recordings from throughout her life. Today, she continues volunteering at St George's Chapel, using her recreated voice to answer visitors' questions and share the history of one of Britain's most important historic sites. Produced by Witness Studios, this documentary follows Irene at home with her husband Martyn and at Windsor Castle, capturing how voice restoration has helped her continue doing what she loves: educating others and contributing to her community. For Irene, voice restoration is about more than communication. It's about preserving identity, maintaining independence, and continuing to play a meaningful role in the lives of others.
