Dan Boneh: The Biggest Impact of Quantum Computing on Crytography

Stanford Online

Dan Boneh, Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, explains how quantum computers could break widely used cryptosystems like RSA. He says the field needs new systems that stay secure even against an attacker with a large quantum computer. The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has already standardized a number of these post-quantum systems. The challenge now is making them efficient and transitioning the world’s systems to them. Winter quarter enrollment is open now for CS255: Introduction to Cryptography, a Stanford Online graduate course. It explains how cryptographic primitives work and how to use them correctly. 🔗 https://stanford.io/cs-255-enroll Browse all grad courses available this winter quarter: 🔗 https://stanford.io/Winter-2026 #Cryptography #QuantumComputing #Cybersecurity
